FAQ’s when using the Alice NightOne
Please review these frequently asked questions
for further information
1. Do I need to sleep on my back and/or skip my medications before bed?
NO. Please sleep in your normal sleeping positions while wearing the device and follow all your normal bedtime routines as closely as possible - unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
We are attempting to replicate a NORMAL night sleep.
2. How many hours do I need to wear the testing device?
We require 6 HOURS of recorded time, although you do not need to be asleep for all of it. We recommend you put the equipment on 30 minutes before going to bed to become more comfortable with wearing it.
3. Should I change the batteries?
You should change the batteries after testing the first night - prior to testing a second night. If you are experiencing any technical difficulties on the first night, changing the batteries can also be helpful.
4. If I do something wrong will it delete the testing data that I have recorded?
NO. The testing data is stored on the hardware of the unit and cannot be deleted by powering the unit off, changing the batteries, or testing again.
5. In the morning after testing I only see a “+” - no pies. Do I need to test again?
YES. If you followed the instructions closely and still only see a plus sign, you should definitely test again. You can also call our office at this time for assistance.
6. If I tested one night and have 3 or 4 solid green pie shapes in the morning do I need to test a second night?
A second night is highly recommended but not required.
7. I have 3-4 pie shapes, but they are all orange/yellow instead of green?
If the pies are orange this indicates that the unit was having an issue with one or more of the sensors. Please change out the batteries and test again paying special attention to the icon(s) that are also orange - to ensure they are hooked up correctly and secured in place.
8. What if I want to (or need to) test more than 2 times? Can I do that?
YES. The unit can store approximately 6 nights of data. If you need to test more than 2 nights, thus keeping the equipment longer than was scheduled, please contact our office to discuss: 530-691-4050.
9. What if I need to get up to use the bathroom during testing?
The unit is connected to your person; you can get up and move around freely while testing. Just keep the unit on and resume sleep when you are ready.
10. Are the pie shapes cumulative?
NO. The pie shapes reset after each night. For example: If after night #1 you have 2 green pie shapes and after night #2 you have 2 green pie shapes again, that is 4 green pies total and indicates plenty of time.
11. How do I mail the test back to you? Please mail the device, batteries and SIGNED paperwork back to us using the USPS PRE-PAID packaging that we provided. You can take it to the post office or give it to your USPS mail person.
12. How long does it take to get results? Results will be sent to your providers office 1 business day after the test has been returned to our office.
